_New Thermal Energy Storage (TES)

Expansion of Chilled Water Plant to accommodate planned new facilities and renovations along with new Thermal Energy Storage. Phase I includes the expansion of the existing building to house the addition of a 600-ton high-efficiency water chiller, and future additions in subsequent project phases. Phase II scope of work will be revisited as Phase I construction nears completion.

First phase of TES & Chilled Water Plant Expansion is part of the criteria documents for the New Instructional Building. Expansion will address additional demand derived from the operations of the New Instructional Building and future M&O Building. BN Builders, In. and Roesling Nakamura Terada Architects, Inc. delivered the Schematic Design to the Building User Group on August 10th, 2018. At the February 12th Board of Trustees meeting a presentation was given on the need to increase the current scope of work for BN Builders and RNT on the phases of the Central Plant Expansion. Based on a new study by P2S, a full replacement has been envisioned with the installation of three chillers and three cooling towers with all necessary infrastructure to support it. An amendment for the revised scope of the project has been issued. This project will be have a distinct application number with the Division of the State Architect (DSA).
